The EastPolePaddles’ Greenland Nanook BlackBone Paddle 2 Piece is based on the shape and size of a traditional west-greenland paddle. It has mild “shoulders” on transition from loom (shaft) to the blades. Blade tips are round and as wide as the blade. EastPolePaddles’ standard material is Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) – a lightweight and beautiful wood, which generally does not rot. Pine strips on the loom is EastPolePaddles’ “trade-mark” which adds stiffness to their paddles. As a finish, they oil the paddles with tungoil. Wooden paddle treated with oil feels very natural and warm in your hands, and enables a good grip even when the paddle is wet, less chance of blisters and easier to maintain.
