NANOOK paddle is based on the shape and size of a traditional west-greenland paddle. It has mild “shoulders” on transition from loom (shaft) to blades. Blade tips are round and as wide as the blade. EastPole’s standard material is western red cedar (Thuja plicata) – lightweight and beautiful wood, which generally does not rot. Pine strips on the loom is their “trade-mark” which adds stiffness to their paddles. As a finish, EastPole oil the paddles with tungoil. Wooden paddle treated with oil feels very natural and warm in your hands. Good grip is guaranteed, even when the paddle is wet, less chance of blisters and easier to maintain.

Using an EastPole Greenland paddle is gentle to your muscles and joints and decreases fatigue. It is almost silent and you put less effort in each stroke. Bracing and rolling are easier than you ever thought they could be.

Nanook means polar bear in Greenlandic.

Weight of the standard paddle made of western red cedar is normally between 700 and 900 grams but most commonly between 750 and 850 grams.
